4 Days Return Tour From Marrakech to Sahara

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ouarzazate – Roses Valley – Dades Gorges and Valley

Our 4 days tour from Marrakech to desert will start in Marrakech, from which we will depart towards Ouarzazate, driving through the High Atlas Mountains. We will meet many small Berber villages along the way, at which we will make multiple stops in order to appreciate their beauty.

We will reach our first destination of the trip, which is the fortified Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. Ait Ben Hddou is a recognized UNESCO world heritage site, and a location where many important international films were set, like Gladiator, The Kingdom of Heaven, Sahara, etc. Then we will continue driving to Ouarzazate. After that, we will head to the Dades valley, driving through the valley of Roses. Once we get there, you will get to explore the beauty of the place, with its rock formations and panoramic views. We will have dinner and spend the night at a local Riad.

Day 2: Dades Valley- Todra Gorges- Tafraoute – Ramlia – Ouzina Desert

On this next day of our exploration, we will leave the Valley of Dades to go visit the nearby Todra gorges. You will get to walk and wander around the 14 kilometers long valley of magnificent rock formations which will leave you speechless.

After that, we will drive and wander through sandy roads, encountering many Berber villages such as Ramlia, until we reach a desert track that’s famous for being the old track for the Paris-Dakar Rally. Finally, we will reach the Ouzina, which is a small but beautiful desert village, where you will experience the true desert culture, in peace and harmony with nature. You will have dinner and spend the night at the Riad of Ouzina TGM.

Day 3: Ouzina Desert- Merzouga Desert – Erg Chabbi

We will start our day with a traditional breakfast, after which we will head to the Ouzina village. You will get to spend some time with the locals and explore their little town. After that, we will leave the village to go search for a Nomadic family in the middle of the desert, so that we can pay them a visit and have a chat over some traditional mint tea. This will allow you to learn more about the true desert and nomad culture.

Then we will start driving towards Erg Chebbi at Merzouga, through the rails of the old Paris-Dakar rally. On our way there we will be driving through a desert area, which means we will meet many Berber villages along the way, one of which being Khamlia. You will get to explore the village that´s untouched by civilization, as well as enjoy the traditional Gnawa music that´s indigenous to the people of the area. For lunch, you will get to enjoy a delicacy of the area: the Berber pizza.

When we are done with that, we will continue driving through a path once used by nomad locals. This is when we will embark on our camel-trekking experience, in which you will get to ride the back of camels that will take you to the desert camp where we will spend the night. You will get to experience the real desert culture through a traditional dinner, accompanied by live Berber music. Finally, you will sleep in a traditional nomad-style tent (fully equipped), as you will get to gaze at the starry desert night sky.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Nkob – Draa Valley- Anti Atlas – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

This next day, we will make sure to wake you up on time to be able to watch the magnificent desert sunrise. After that, we will ride on camels once again, back to Merzouga. This is when we will head back to Marrakech, driving by the town of Rissani. Rissani is the hometown of the ancestors of the Alaouite dynasty that currently rules over the kingdom.

We will continue driving by many Berber villages such as Alnif, N’kob, the Draa valley until we reach Agdez where we will stop for lunch. Then our road trip continues, driving through the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, our 4 days tour from Marrakech to desert will end when we arrive in Marrakech in the evening.

When is the best time to visit Morocco?

There is really no time of year where you wouldn’t enjoy your trip to Morocco; although you should keep in mind that it tends to get a little too crowded with tourists during the winter holidays season. Then it’s up to you to decide what season suits you the best to come visit, according to your schedule and preferences. The weather in Morocco is more on the mild side during Spring and Autumn (from March to May and from September to November respectively).

For these seasons the temperatures could be ranging anywhere from 11° to 32°C. Winter usually lasts from December to February, with a relatively low temperature range (7° to 21°C). You should also expect to see snowfall in Morocco’s mountainous regions. As for Summer (from June to August), temperatures can land anywhere between 19°C and 40°C in the middle of the day.

When is the peak season to visit Morocco?

The tourist flow in Morocco reaches its peak during December and April of each year, for these are the holiday seasons. The emerging high demand for accommodations during these months makes the prices go up very significantly in comparison to other months, and all of the best accommodations get booked up very early on.

Therefore, if you’re thinking of coming during one of these seasons, we suggest you start looking in advance, in order to have enough time to find an accommodation that suits your needs. We would also suggest you avoid these months altogether, so that you’ll be able to get the best out of your Morocco experience.

Are the tours private?

Yes! The tours our company offers are all completely private. This will allow to experience Morocco the way YOU want to. In addition to that, you will of course be always welcome to request stops along the way during the tours, in order to take memorable photographs (or whatever other reason you want!).

In case you are interested in booking a group desert tour, please go ahead and contact us to make you the best group tour.

Will the price be the same if we are 2, 3 or more persons?

The price for each individual person participating in the tours goes lower the more people there are in the group participating.

Will the price be cheaper for last minute booking?

Actually, it could be quite the opposite. Our team makes sure to select the best quality accommodations for our clients, and those tend to get booked full pretty quickly, that’s why it’s not always easy for us to accommodate last minute bookings.

Therefore, you shouldn’t expect a lower price for such inquiries, but instead a higher one maybe. To avoid such incidents, we strongly advise you to book your tour with us early on, so that we will be able to pick out the best accommodations for you, and offer you an unforgettable Morocco experience.
