Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Fez

Our trip will start by coming to pick you up from the Casablanca airport, then transferring you to the hotel where you can leave your luggage. We will pay a necessary visit to the world famous Hassan II Mosque, which is the largest mosque in North Africa, and third largest in the world. We will then head to Rabat, the capital of the kingdom, to visit its most important historical monuments. Starting from the Kasbah of Oudaya, the Royal Mechouar, the Mohammed V Mausoleum to the Hassan Tower, you will get to see it all! We will then leave to Fez where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Fez

This day will start after your local guide comes to pick you up from your accommodation. You will get to discover this city´s breathtaking charm, as you´ll wonder around the narrow streets of the old medina. Just like Florence or Athens, Fez is an immensely important imperial city historically and culturally. You will feel like you´ve traveled to a magical place far away, straight out of an Arabian nights´ fairytale. Fez is a beautiful city that doesn´t fall short on the amazing things it has to offer: from artisanal crafts to traditional food, passing by souk markets… etc. You will get to experience a whole new world, like you´ve never seen before. Fez is also home to the oldest university in the world, the Karaouine University, which you will visit alongside the rest of the old Medina, a recognized UNESCO world heritage. We will walk around the narrow streets and alleyways of the old medina, as well as visit the Royal palace and the city´s Jewish district, the Mellah. You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 3: Fez – Ifrane – Imilchil – Todra River Gorges

We will start our day by driving to the small town of Ifrane, also called the “Switzerland of Morocco”. It has received this name for its unique weather and architecture, which makes Ifrane perhaps the most beautiful urban town of Morocco. After we’re done exploring it, we will head to the neighboring Berber village of Imilchil. Imilchil is mostly known for holding an annual marriage festival (late August – early September), which is a tradition based on the legend that celebrates the love of a young couple who were not allowed to marry because of their tribes. This festival is considered an official Intangible Heritage by the UNESCO. Finally, we will continue driving South to then reach the famous Todra gorges.

Day 4: Todra Gorges – Tafraoute – Ouzina Desert

On our first day of the Sahara Desert exploration, we will drive and wander through sandy roads, encountering many Berber villages, until we reach a desert track that’s famous for being the old track for the Paris-Dakar Rally. Finally, we will reach the Ouzina desert where you will experience the true desert culture, in peace and harmony with nature. You will have dinner and spend the night at the Riad of Ouzina TGM.

Day 5: Ouzina – Taouz – Desert of Merzouga

This next day, we will continue our desert exploration in the direction of the Merzouga desert. We will be driving near the Moroccan-Algerian border, which means we will meet many villages of the area along the way. As soon as we reach Merzouga, we will leave the 4×4 vehicles and exchange them for a ride on the back of camels, which will lead us to the desert camp where we will be spending the night. You will get to live a memorable night in the middle of the desert dunes, sleeping in a nomadic style tent under a blanket of stars in the night sky.

Day 6: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud

After having breakfast at the camp, we will ride the camels again back to the vehicles. We will then drive to the city of Rissani, which is where the old city of Sijilmassa used to be. Sijilmassa is known for being the homeland of the ancestors of the Alaoui dynasty that currently rules over the kingdom. Another important thing about this area is that it holds the biggest flea market place of the area, where people from over 500 villages come to get their weekly provisions. We will make one last stop of the day, at the city of Erfoud. Since Erfoud is the Moroccan capital of fossils, we might pay a visit to one of the fossil workshops there. You will be provided with dinner and overnight accommodation in Erfoud.

Day 7: Merzouga – Khamlia – Merzozuga

We will start our day by having breakfast, after which we will head to the Khamlia village. We will be driving through a desert area, which means we will meet many nomad villages and oases along the way. Once in Khamlia, you will get to explore the village that´s untouched by civilization, as well as enjoy the traditional Gnawa music that´s indigenous to the people of the area. When we are done with that, you will enjoy some free time to relax back at the hotel, before leaving once again to the desert dunes of Merzouga to spend one last night in this magical place. You will have dinner accompanied by traditional Berber drums, and then you will be provided with overnight accommodation.

Day 8: Merzouga – Alnif – Tazarine – Nkob – Draa Valley – Agdez – Ouarzazate

You don’t want to miss the opportunity to watch the beautiful desert sunrise this next morning. We will then head to the city of Ouarzazate, driving by many villages such as: Alnif, Tazarine, Nkob, and the Draa valley. You will get to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of all the oases, palm groves and rock formations of the area. Finally, we will arrive at Ouarzazate where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 9: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou

The next morning in Ouarzazate, we will take some time to discover the city, which is known for being the “Hollywood of Morocco”. It takes this name for being home to Morocco’s biggest and most important film studios, which we might pay a visit to. Next, we will drive to the neighboring Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is an ancient traditional fortified Ksar, a UNESCO world heritage, and the filming location for many important international movies. We will have dinner and spend the night at a local hotel.

Day 10: Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

We will head to the red city, Marrakech, driving through the mountains of the high Atlas. A specific mountain pass that we will drive through is the Tizin tichka pass, which contains beautiful panoramic views over the mountains, being as high as 2260 meters. You will be provided with an overnight stay in Marrakech.

Day 11: Marrakech

After breakfast at your accommodation, your local tour guide will come pick you up in order to begin your exploration of the red city, Marrakech.
