Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Azrou cedar forest → Ziz Valley → Merzouga
Leaving Fes around 8:00 am, you’ll head south into the Middle Atlas, stopping first in Ifrane — the alpine-style “Switzerland of Morocco” — then the Azrou cedar forest to see its wild Barbary apes.
The drive continues past Midelt and over the Tizi n’Talghemt pass, where green mountains give way to desert plateaus. Following the palm-lined Ziz Valley and the fossil town of Erfoud, you’ll reach the Erg Chebbi dunes by late afternoon — then ride a camel to your desert camp for a tagine dinner and Berber music under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga 4x4 desert day — nomads, Khamlia music & Erg Chebbi
After sunrise over the dunes and breakfast at camp, a full 4x4 desert tour takes you deep into the Merzouga region. You’ll meet a semi-nomadic Berber family, visit the old Mifis mines, and stop for tea with Bedouins behind the dunes.
In Khamlia village you’ll hear the hypnotic sub-Saharan rhythms of Gnawa music, before your guide shows you the best of the Erg Chebbi sand sea. Return to your accommodation near the dunes to relax before a second desert night.

Day 3: Merzouga → Rissani → Tinjdad → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
Rise early for one more desert sunrise, then travel by camel or 4x4 back to Merzouga and on to the historic market town of Rissani — home to one of Morocco’s largest and most authentic souks (liveliest on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Following the Tafilalet oasis you’ll reach Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, where sheer orange cliffs nearly 300 metres high rise above a cool river — ideal for a short walk. The day ends in the green Dades Valley, with dinner and an overnight stay in a local hotel or riad.

Your final day follows the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Skoura palm grove to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa,” with its film studios and Taourirt Kasbah.
The highlight is the ancient fortified ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and backdrop to films from Gladiator to Lawrence of Arabia. After lunch nearby, you’ll cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), pausing for panoramic views, before your 4-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech ends with a drop-off at your Marrakech accommodation.

Can the itinerary be customised or changed?

Does the price change with group size?
The per-person price goes down as your group grows, because the private vehicle and driver-guide are shared across more travellers. Send us your exact numbers and dates and we’ll send back a clear, all-in quote per person.
Are last-minute bookings cheaper?
Usually not — if anything the opposite. We hand-pick the best riads and desert camps, and the good ones fill up fast, especially in high season (spring and autumn). Booking early secures the best accommodation and a smoother trip.
That said, we do take last-minute bookings when availability allows — message us with your dates and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.
Is Morocco safe for tourists?
Yes. Morocco is one of the most welcoming and stable countries in the region, and tourism is central to its economy, so visitor safety is taken seriously — including dedicated tourist police and government-accredited guides.
