About This Tour

1 day · Errachidia

Most people see the Ziz valley through a car window on the way to Merzouga, stopping for ten minutes at the viewpoint. This day trip does the opposite: it treats the valley as the destination and gives it the time it deserves.

North of Errachidia the Ziz has cut a gorge through bare rock below the Hassan Addakhil dam. South of the town it widens into one of the longest continuous palm groves in Morocco, with earthen ksars set back against the cliffs — fortified villages built along the caravan road that carried gold and salt north from the Sahara.

Practical travel notes

  • Pricing is per group rather than per person, so the cost per head falls as your party grows — tell us how many you are and we will quote.
  • Every tour is private. The itinerary below is the shape of the trip, not a fixed timetable, and your driver will adapt it to how your day is going.
  • Bring layers. Days are warm and desert nights are cold in every season, and mountain passes are colder again.
  • Comfortable closed shoes matter more than anything else you pack, especially for the dunes and the gorges.
  • Tell us at the time of booking about dietary needs, allergies, mobility limits or anything medical, so we can plan around it properly.
  • The date harvest runs from late September into October and is the best time to see the valley working rather than simply looking beautiful.
