Plan your perfect 3 Days Tour from Fes to Merzouga Sahara Desert trip to experience camping and camel trekking at the amazing Merzouga Erg Chebbi Dunes then back to Fes. We have tailored a private Fes to Merouga desert tour to cover all the scenery and sightseeing to accommodate your need.
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Merzouga – Overnight in Berber tent
We will start our 3 days tour from Fes to Merzouga towards the desert by driving past the beautiful town of Ifrane, also called the Switzerland of Morocco for its unique weather and architecture. Our first stop along the way will be to observe wild macaque monkeys in their natural habitat, at the cedar forest in Azrou.
Another beautiful town we will come across along the way is Midelt. We will then resume our trip to Merzouga, passing through the valley of Ziz and its impressive palm groves, with breathtaking natural landscapes. Then we will reach the town of Aoufous and the city of Erfoud that´s mostly known for its richness in natural fossils.
Finally, we will arrive at Merzouga where we will first stop at a hotel in order to check-in and deposit our luggage, and then we will switch from 4×4 vehicles to a camel caravan which we will ride through the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will then reach our desert camp just in time to watch the sunset over the dunes, after which you will have dinner and get to spend the night in a traditional nomad tent.
Day 2: Merzouga – Desert journey
If you are lucky enough to wake up before sunrise, you will be able to catch a breathtaking sunrise over the desert dunes, which is perfect for taking memorable photos. We will then return to the hotel in order to have breakfast, riding on the back of camels again, to continue traveling to our next destination. We will pay a visit to the beautiful Yasmina Lake, located in the middle of the desert dunes.
After that, we will make a stop at the palmary of Panorama in order to visit the beautiful village of Tissardmine, which is famous for containing ancient animal fossils, dating as far back as 100 million years. We will be driving through a desert area, which means we will meet many Berber villages along the way. Once we arrive in Khamlia, you will get to explore the village that´s untouched by civilization, as well as enjoy the traditional Gnawa music that´s indigenous to the people of the area.
They also have a special house just for the teaching of Gnaoua music, which you will get to visit while enjoying a cup of traditional tea. Then you will have a traditional lunch at a local restaurant, after which we will go look for a nomad family in the desert, in order to chat with them for a bit and learn more about their lifestyle.
Day 3: Merzouga – Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Medilt – Fes
This will be the last day of our Fes desert tour, which means we will take the road back to Fez. On our way there, we will make many stops so that you can have an enjoyable trip. These stops include the valley of Ziz, the town of Midelt, and the town of Azrou. Finally, we will reach Fez in the late evening and we will drop you off at your hotel. End of our 3 days tour from Fes to Merzouga. Thank you for the visit.

When is the best time to visit Morocco?
There is really no time of year where you wouldn’t enjoy your trip to Morocco; although you should keep in mind that it tends to get a little too crowded with tourists during the winter holidays season. Then it’s up to you to decide what season suits you the best to come visit, according to your schedule and preferences. The weather in Morocco is more on the mild side during Spring and Autumn (from March to May and from September to November respectively).
For these seasons the temperatures could be ranging anywhere from 11° to 32°C. Winter usually lasts from December to February, with a relatively low temperature range (7° to 21°C). You should also expect to see snowfall in Morocco’s mountainous regions. As for Summer (from June to August), temperatures can land anywhere between 19°C and 40°C in the middle of the day.
When is the peak season to visit Morocco?
The tourist flow in Morocco reaches its peak during December and April of each year, for these are the holiday seasons. The emerging high demand for accommodations during these months makes the prices go up very significantly in comparison to other months, and all of the best accommodations get booked up very early on.
Therefore, if you’re thinking of coming during one of these seasons, we suggest you start looking in advance, in order to have enough time to find an accommodation that suits your needs. We would also suggest you avoid these months altogether, so that you’ll be able to get the best out of your Morocco experience.
Are the tours private?
Yes! The tours our company offers are all completely private. This will allow to experience Morocco the way YOU want to. In addition to that, you will of course be always welcome to request stops along the way during the tours, in order to take memorable photographs (or whatever other reason you want!).
In case you are interested in booking a group desert tour, please go ahead and contact us and we will make you the best tour according to your needs.
Will the price be the same if we are 2, 3 or more persons?
The price for each individual person participating in the tours goes lower the more people there are in the group participating.
Will the price be cheaper for last minute booking?
Actually, it could be quite the opposite. Our team makes sure to select the best quality accommodations for our clients, and those tend to get booked full pretty quickly, that’s why it’s not always easy for us to accommodate last minute bookings. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect a lower price for such inquiries, but instead a higher one maybe.
To avoid such incidents, we strongly advise you to book your tour with us early on, so that we will be able to pick out the best accommodations for you, and offer you an unforgettable Morocco experience.
